How Do I Choose The Perfect Women’s Perfume?
How do I choose the Perfect Women’s Perfume? Men commonly associate buying gifts for women as up there with pulling teeth or solving a Rubix cube – painful and very difficult! However, perfume can be a relatively easy choice. Unless the women you are buying perfume for has a deep dislike for a particular fragrance or has some kind of allergy, it is uncommon to go wrong with a bottle of perfume.
If you opt for a famous designer fragrance or a perfume that has recently been launched, you will have paid full price, or close to full price, for your purchase. The lady will know this, and will know that this is something you could not have grabbed at a clearance sale six months ago. This speaks volumes, and will impress!
Women individually are very different from each other, and there are many characteristics and personality traits that distinguish one from another. Likewise, there is a myriad of perfumes to choose from. How do you choose the right perfume?
You may be able to establish her preference in fragrance category, without hinting that you’re thinking of a perfume for the woman in your life. Does she like fruity or floral, cool and crisp, or warm and royal? The easy way to discover this is to casually ask her what perfume she is wearing – tell her you like her perfume and ask what it is. The easier way is to find out which perfume she wears, and then ask a sales assistant for help – find a similar scent to her favourite and you won’t go wrong. Someone who can guide you in the right direction, who knows what they are talking about, will be a valuable help in your quest to buying perfume.
Most department stores and fragrance retailers will offer to let you smell the perfume on a card. Ask for a test smell of the original scent, and the new one you are considering purchasing and see if they do indeed seem similar. Buying something she likes and still being creative is a sure fire way of making your present a success. Also, make sure you like the scent – if she likes it she’ll probably wear it when she’s with you, to show she appreciates the thought you have put into buying her a gift.
The safe option is to keep the receipt, in case she wants to change your purchase for something she will like. Don’t be offended, instead be prepared for this! Perhaps include a sample of the perfume for her to try before she opens the bottle you have bought – most retailers won’t accept an opened bottle for return.
Be Prepared To Shop Around
Most department stores train their staff to spot the man shopping for a gift, and target such an individual. Chances are, if you buy from a department store after asking for help, you’ll walk out with a large sized bottle, or a complete gift set featuring the perfume, accompanying body lotion, gift bag, and so on. Shop around however, and you can usually get what you want at the price you are prepared to pay. Once you establish the perfume you are interested in, ask other retailers what price they are selling at. Also, check online from a website you can trust. Certain websites will sell testers or imported fragrances – this will devalue your purchase and the person you are buying for will know that you have paid below the going rate for a gift. Always look for a guarantee on a webpage that indicates that it sells only 100% genuine goods that have not been imported.
Also, be prepared to not make huge savings on big name perfumes, particularly on new launches. Shopping around can get you a bargain, but will not save you a fortune. Perfume manufacturers can generally dictate to retailers the price at which they sell new perfumes. The benefit in shopping around is to avoid the sales tactic of getting you to buy more that you originally intended. Unless the perfume has been around for a year of 2, you will not make a significant saving. If you do find one, it’s probably too good to be true!
